About

Join our Flying Bike guides for an e-bike ride through the renowned River Arts District (RAD) of Asheville. You’ll meet local artists and get a front-row seat to watch them practice their craft. The tour lasts approximately 3 hours and will take you off the beaten path, guiding you down bike lanes and bike greenways along the banks of the gently flowing French Broad River.
Our first stop will be at The Marquee, an enormous art marketplace of curated vendors from around the region and beyond. Our second stop is at Small Batch Glass, where we will learn about all the steps involved in creating a handmade glass piece. Before returning to our shop, we will make one last stop at New Belgium Brewery where guests can purchase a thirst-quenching pint and a tasty meal from a food truck.
*Please note that food and drinks are not included in the cost of the tour but can be purchased separately.

Itinerary

Our expert guide will share the history of the River Arts District and then give guests time to peruse the expansive collection of art available for purchase at The Marquee.
Our second stop will be at Riverview Station, a massive industrial warehouse that has been converted into art galleries and studio spaces and is now home to more than 60 artists, craftspeople, and entrepreneurs.
Our guide will lead you to Small Batch Glass where you will have the opportunity to watch a master glass blower create custom pieces of glass artwork.
Our guide will lead guests to New Belgium Brewery as the last stop on the tour where they can purchase a thirst-quenching pint and a tasty meal from a food truck.

Additional Information

  • Public transportation options are available nearby
  • Specialized infant seats are available
  • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
  • The electric bikes will take all of the hard work out of your ride. We routinely have riders that span the spectrum of age and fitness. The main requirement is that you be coordinated and fit enough to balance a 55-pound bike. A training and practice session is provided at the start of each tour. For people who would like to go on the tour but cannot balance a bike, it is possible to arrange a ride on the back of one of our stretch cargo bikes that will be driven by another person in your party.
  • Legally, you must be 16 years or older to operate an electric bike. Guides reserve the right to request proof of age of any rider. Riders should also be at least 5 feet tall to operate their own bike. Guests younger than 16 may ride as a passenger with an adult in their group on the back of one of our cargo bikes or in a child seat (for children ages 1-6 or up to 48.5 pounds).
  • Tours are subject to favorable weather conditions. If there is light rain in the forecast but none at the start of the tour, we will decide together at the time of the tour whether to ride. We will provide rain ponchos and rain covers for the bike storage bags to protect your belongings. If canceled due to poor weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date or a full refund.
  • Pets are not allowed on tours, please contact us with any questions or concerns.
